About Angela Clark

My Training and Background
My journey began over 20 years ago when my own health caused me to look at other avenues of healing and to bring about change in my life.

I worked in a school for many years working with the welfare of the children and this showed me the great need for support for others with emotional needs.  Often caused by life events, loss, bereavement, health whether mental or physical and family life.

This took me on a journey of self discovery and a never ending journey of training, learning, change and growth.  I started to see that people needed to be treated as a whole, that there was a need to look at our own spiritual, mental, emotional and physical as a whole rather than as separate entities and by allowing others to explore their spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeing change occurred.

I began to meet people who had an interest in spirituality and meditation and started to get involved in meditation myself.  Meditation showed me how stressed I was and that with continual practice and developing my meditation that I started to relax and be able to recognise myself and areas in my life that I wanted to change.  Through meditation I started to find that inner peace and develop compassion and understanding for others.

angelabutler-roomI worked for 4 years supporting clients with mental health needs working with Reiki and Aromatherapy.  I have particular experience of working with eating disorders and have done a lot of research with nutrition and how it impacts on our mental health.

More recently I have done training which has given me skills in working with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness.   Supporting clients in looking at their thoughts and feelings and how these impact on our every day lives.  CBT works well with clients with Anxiety, Phobias, Depression and other mental health disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and concentrates on the here and now rather than looking at issues from the past.  I have experienced considerable change for clients when working with CBT and Mindfulness.  Mindfulness is now considered one of the main tools for bringing about change for clients.

I have recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Emotional Education with Derby University and have a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling with Staffordshire University.  I am also a qualified Aromatherapist and Reiki Master.

I trained for my Reiki Master with Jane Webster who trained with Jennie Austin, Reiki Master in Inverness and the Peak School of Reiki in Derbyshire and using my Reiki have helped facilitate positive change for many people.

I have continuing Professional Development and Supervision which are a requirement of the BACP and the ICHT.
